- Introduction
- The first video/audio codec to DELIVER
cross platform interoperability through standards and
support for both UNIX and Windows’ operating systems!
The Osprey-1000/1100 family offers the most flexible
solution in the industry, supporting multiple standard compression
formats and Solaris2TM, Windows
NT, Digital NT, Windows ‘95 and Windows3.1
-
- With the Osprey-1100 you can create a multi-algorithm
videocom system on Sun workstations. The Osprey-1100
provides hardware compression & decompression (SunVideoTM only provides compression).
-
Osprey-1100 Architecture
- Designed for
the Designer
- The Osprey-1100 includes everything you’ll need to
start using video on your Sun from Day 1, or to build
your own custom solution.
Included are:
- Sample Applications with
source code
- SunVideo Binary Compatibility
- Applications developed to SunVideo run
unmodified!
- XILTM Interface - Standard video
application interface under Solaris
- ‘Lib-audio’ Interface
- simple re-compile of existing code and
you’re done!
- Developer’s API for
fine grained control (April, 1997)
- Solaris2 drivers
Finally, an H.261 solution on
Sun!
- Video Capabilities:
- With the Osprey-1100, you can create Internet, Intranet,
H.320, H.323, or H.324 conference systems, or one-to-many
broadcast applications. Dynamic, user selectable controls
are provided for adjusting video characteristics (contrast,
brightness, hue, etc.), quality and frame rate within specified bandwidths.
The Osprey-1100 can operate in encode only, decode only,
or full codec modes.
Capabilities include:
- H.261 codec - 2
packet formats (IP64, H261) for robust high
quality video from 64kb/s - 1.5Mb/s; ideal for
intranet/Internet video systems, or to create an H.323
system.
- H.263 codec - Ideal
for low bit rate applications ranging from 14.4kb/s
to 128kb/s
- Direct (uncompressed)
Capture - A variety of color formats are supported
including RGB24, RGB555, RGB565, RGB-8bit, YVU9, YUYV.
Save video to disk, or display it on the monitor
- CellB - Easily
decoded by software, this is used extensively by Sun-based
applications
- JPEG - For use when
video data integrity is paramount (Available March/April
1997)
- H.324 - Standard for
video communication over telephone lines (POTs).
Requires a separate modem (Available March/April
1997)
- Audio Capabilities:
- The Osprey-1100 includes a unique set of Audio features
including:
- CD Quality Audio I/O (up to
44.1khz sampling); Line in/Mic in, Line out,
Headphone out
- Advanced Audio Processing: G.728,
G.723, G.722, G.711 (m law/Alaw),
